Our favorite Little British Car drivers, Keith Wescovich and Carol Roche, co-chaired the seventh points event of 2011. The pair of Spitfire pilots put on a well-run event. Justin Lau re-used a course design of Jim Garry's from last year with some tweaks. A short slalom along Main street started the course, followed by a run along the building and across the top of the lot, with offsets along the way. A hard left at the pointy end of the lot fed the teardop section -- a slalom, a long 180-degree sweeper, and a couple offsets back to close the teardrop. After retracing their path from the pointy end to mid-way down along the building, drivers took a right sweeper through the finish lights. With weather forecasts on Saturday predicting high winds and hail, registration was still good with sixty-nine drivers competing. The weather actually turned out reasonably well, with the worst being a strong breeze and some dark clouds. Drivers enjoyed six competition runs, and there were good battles in several classes, as well as for Fastest PAX Time of Day between G.J. Dixon and Mark Daddio. In the end, Mark beat out G.J. by a mere 0.019 seconds on index. A special thanks to all who helped out with equipment setup and teardown. Congratulations to Nick Barbato for taking Raw Fastest Time of Day, to Mark Daddio for grabbing PAX FTD, and to Andrew Grigg for fastest Rookie honors. Phil Rock took photos at the event and has posted them on his Flickr pages. |
